The Ashdown Singers, formed in 1976 are a chamber choir based in Uckfield, but drawing singers from across East Sussex. A group large enough to perform established works of the choral repertoire, (Vivaldi Gloria, Stainer Crucifixion, and Masses by Mozart and Haydn) yet small enough to be able to sing madrigals and part songs, the Ashdown Singers is one of the leading choral groups in the area. The choir is equally at home performing in village churches or cathedrals and concert halls and has broadcast on local radio in Sussex and Kent. Over the years the choir has raised thousands of pounds for local charities and causes. The choir is also available to hire for private functions and weddings. Contact us for more details.

Terence Steele, director of the Ashdown singers began his career in Shropshire as organist and master of the choristers at Oswestry Parish Church, and also Conductor of Oswestry Choral Society. A graduate of Bristol and Nottingham Universities, Terence also trained at the Royal School of Church Music. As an organist he has played in concerts and recitals across Britain and Europe. Terence was Head of Music at Priory School, Lewes, and has been heavily involved with the East Sussex County Music Service, playing the organ for the East Sussex Schools Festival at the Royal Albert Hall, and as conductor of the East Sussex  Community Choir.
